What a repainted kitchen actually looks like
Every kitchen below had dated oak or an old, worn finish underneath. Tap any photo to see it full size.
Lex Cabinet Doctor refinishes the kitchen and bathroom cabinets you already own, with a sprayed, factory-smooth finish. You keep your layout, your boxes and your countertops. You lose the dated colour.
Free in-home estimate, with a written price before you commit to anything.
Sprayed, not brushed or rolled, so doors come out smooth as new.
Back in your kitchen in days, with the sink, counters and appliances still working.

"I put off doing anything about the cabinets for two years because I was sure a painted kitchen would look painted. These don't. Nobody who's walked in has guessed."
If it's already there and structurally sound, it's a candidate: the cabinets, the vanity, the built-ins, and the doors and trim around them.
Doors, drawer fronts and the boxes themselves, sprayed in place. Any colour you like, including a match to something you already own.
Vanity doors and frames refinished to take daily steam and splashes without the finish going soft at the edges.
Bookcases, window seats, mudroom lockers and laundry cabinets brought back to life in the same finish as the trim.
Interior doors, trim and kitchen islands sprayed to match, so the whole room reads as one job rather than a patch-up.
Anyone can roll paint onto a door. We take the doors and drawers off, clean and sand every surface, prime for adhesion, then spray a cabinet-grade coating. Most of the work happens before a colour is even mixed, which is why the finish stays put.
No brush marks, no roller texture, no visible seams on a door front.
Degreased, sanded and primed first, which is what stops edges lifting later.
A coating made for cabinetry, not wall paint, so it wipes clean around handles.
We only get paid when we paint, so read this knowing that. But most kitchens don't need new boxes, and the honest comparison is below.
What matters | Refinishing with usYour cabinets, sprayed in place | Full replacementNew boxes, doors and installation |
|---|---|---|
What it costs | A fraction of the price of new cabinetry | Several times more, before you add installation |
Time in your home | Days of spraying, with the kitchen still working | Weeks of demolition, delivery and fitting |
What you keep | Your layout, boxes, counters and hardware | New boxes and doors, the old ones landfilled |
The finish | Sprayed smooth, no brush or roller marks | Factory-applied, but priced with the boxes |
The right call when | The boxes are solid and the layout works | Boxes are damaged, or you want a different layout |
Send us a photo of your kitchen and we'll tell you straight whether refinishing is worth it for your cabinets.
Here's the order things happen in, and where you'll be without a working kitchen (short answer: you won't be).
We come out, measure every door and drawer, look at the boxes and the wear, and leave with a written price. No charge and nothing to sign.
You pick from cabinet-grade colours and we check the finish against your counters, floor and light before we book a start date.
The kitchen is masked and sealed off. Doors and drawers are sprayed separately while your frames are sprayed in place. Your sink and appliances stay usable.
Doors and drawers go back on, hardware is refitted, the masking comes down, and we walk the kitchen with you before we pack up.
You can judge a trade by how they leave the room. These are the things people mention.
"They covered more than I expected — floors, counters, even the fridge. There wasn't a speck of overspray on anything when they packed up."
"The quote was the number on the invoice, and the start date didn't move. After two builders on this house, I noticed."
"I asked them to talk me out of it if the cabinets were too far gone. They were straight with me about the one box that needed replacing, and repainted the rest."
If yours isn't here, ask it at the estimate. You'll get a straight answer either way, including when the answer is no.
Refinishing comes in at a fraction of what new cabinetry costs, because you're keeping the boxes, the layout and the countertops. What your kitchen costs depends on how many doors and drawers there are and how much repair they need, which is exactly what the free estimate works out. You'll get a written price, not a range.
For most kitchens the working part of the job is a few days: one to prep and mask, then the spraying, then rehanging once the finish has set. You keep your sink, counters and appliances throughout, and we schedule around you so you can still cook. Your quote includes the day-by-day timeline.
That's what happens when someone rolls wall paint onto a greasy cabinet. We degrease, sand and prime for adhesion first, then spray a coating made for cabinetry, so handles and drawer edges don't rub through. Almost all of the labour is in that preparation, and we don't rush it.
Take out the things you'll want access to and clear the countertops before we start. Everything that stays gets masked, including appliances, floors and light fittings, and we handle removing and refitting every door and drawer ourselves.
Almost any cabinet-grade colour, including matching a paint colour you already love. We bring samples so you can see the finish against your counters, floor and light before anything is sprayed. If you'd rather not choose alone, we'll narrow it to two or three that work in your kitchen.
Then we'll tell you at the estimate rather than take the job. Cracked boxes, water damage, or a layout you want to change usually mean new cabinets are the better spend. If it's one or two damaged boxes, we can often replace just those and refinish the rest so everything matches.
Tell us a little about the job and we'll come out, measure up and leave you with a written price, a timeline and a colour plan. Nothing to sign on the day.
Free and no obligation to book anything.
A written price and timeline in your hand, not a range over the phone.
We'll say so if new cabinets are the better spend for your kitchen.
